Saydo Park is a Residential Park Home site close to the village of Mollina, 15 minutes north of Antequera, in the heart of Andalucia. The park lies close to the A92 Granada-Sevilla motorway, the historic city of Granada is less than an hour away and beautiful Sevilla about one and a half hours.
Malaga city and airport are approximately 50 minutes away by motorway. There are good rail links from Antequerra to both Granada and Sevilla and nearby Santa Ana has high speed trains to Malaga, Madrid, Cordoba and Barcelona. Travel on Spanish trains is particularly cheap when compared to the UK and even cheaper by obtaining a Senior Citizens Rail Card, (Tarjeta Dorada or Gold Card in English) which gives discounts of up to 40%. Bus services to Antequera and Malaga are available from Mollina village and we are negotiating to have a bus stop close to the park entrance in the near future.
Amongst the park amenities is the Swimming pool and Gymnasium complex which houses an Olympic sized outdoor pool with it’s own bar for summer use, a smaller heated indoor pool open all year round and a well appointed gymnasium.
The adjacent hotel hosts a large Farmers Market every Wednesday with English foodstuffs, delicious home made pies, pastries etc, Greengrocery, Clothes, DIY supplies CD’s, DVD’s books and much more.There are lots of weekly activities if you wish to get involved in the social life, including Yoga, Line Dancing, a Quiz night, Bingo and occasional cabaret evenings. There is also a group of Male Voice Singers for those who like to sing but don’t take themselves too seriously. There is a local branch of the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes are actively fund raising. There are numerous coach trips organised by local groups and you will probably wonder, as many of us do, how you ever found time to go to work.
The village of Mollina, some two and a half kilometres away, has a British Food Shop, British Bookshop and several British run bars and restaurants. The local Health Centre is situated here and it is fair to say that the standard of health care is, at the least, comparable to the UK and if you need specialist treatment, hospitalisation or surgery, a great deal quicker. For example, a hip replacement takes on average, from diagnosis to operation, three months. You do have to realise though that you are living in a foreign country, they do speak Spanish and do things somewhat differently to the UK. Some times the bureaucracy can be frustrating but you will learn to accept it.
Nearby Antequera, about fifteen minutes by car has three large Supermarkets, including a branch of Lidl, within 200 yards of one another. Antequera is a historic town, once the capital of Andalucia, with many interesting buildings, a Bullring and many high quality shops. The surrounding area has a number of large industrial estates with plenty of DIY outlets, Furniture, Builders and Plumbers merchants, Car Dealers etc. In short, everything you could need.
